Florida is the proof that showing up works, and the warning that showing up is not optional. Republicans hold a real lead in the early and mail vote, about a hundred and fifty thousand ballots, built the way Florida always builds it: in-person voting, day after day, while Democrats banked their mail ballots early. That lead is real, and it is also thinner than the leads of 2022 and 2024 at this same point, which is exactly why today matters more, not less. The Election Day surge is the Republican Party’s traditional closing argument in Florida, and it has to arrive, because the other side’s voters are not staying home either. The man in the picture beside the president is Byron Donalds, running for governor, and he knows what Florida is: the state that stopped apologizing, stopped waiting, and started winning. The lesson of Florida is not that Republicans outnumber Democrats everywhere. It is that the side that shows up wins, and the side that assumes it has already won loses. Florida’s early numbers are encouraging, but no early lead has ever sworn anybody into office. Ballots cast today are the ones that finish the job. So the message to the rest of the country is the one Florida already learned. There are more voters on our side than the polls admit, but they only count if they vote. Get to your polling place before seven tonight. Bring someone with you. Florida proved the model. Today the whole country gets to copy it, one ballot at a time, until the surge the other side fears becomes the result they cannot deny.
