800 kilometers through one of the most vital rainforests on Earth... mission completed!
Over 18 grueling days, @ash_dykes, videographer @btswithwill, and our very own @obedtemba navigated the Sangha River deep into the Congo Basin. From paddling up to 15 hours a day through heavy storms to connecting with local BaAka communities and encountering incredible wildlife, this journey was about so much more than endurance.
It showed the world why the Congo Basin matters. As the "second lungs of the planet," these vast canopy forests and waterways store critical global carbon, shelter endangered gorillas and forest elephants, and thrive because of the local communities who protect them every day.
We couldn’t be prouder of Obed for representing local leadership, resilience, and the true spirit of the Congo on this historic expedition.
