My Policy Advisor, George Boutros, represented my office at a town hall held at the Library of the Canyons.

National Weather Service representatives presented this winter's El Niño forecast, while OC Public Works outlined what the County is doing to prepare for the winter storm season.

Attendees also heard updates from AT&T and Southern California Edison.

A big thanks to community leader Joanne Hubble for putting together this event for our canyons community as we face the El Niño season.

British adventurer Karl Bushby has finally returned home after spending 28 years attempting one of the most extraordinary journeys in modern exploration. In 1998, he set off from Punta Arenas, Chile, determined to walk an unbroken route back to his hometown of Hull, England. His expedition, known as the Goliath Expedition, took him across continents, through remote wilderness and some of the most challenging environments on Earth.

Along the way, Bushby crossed the notorious Darién Gap between Colombia and Panama, traversed vast stretches of the Americas and crossed the frozen Bering Strait from Alaska into Russia. His journey was interrupted by visa complications, political restrictions and the COVID pandemic, but he remained committed to reaching home without using motorised transport to advance his route.

On November 2, 2026, Bushby was reunited with his mother in the UK, bringing an emotional conclusion to a journey spanning approximately 31,000 miles. What began as an ambitious adventure when he was 29 years old became a remarkable story of endurance, determination and perseverance, proving just how far one person can go when they refuse to give up. 🌍🚶❤
