One of my favourite bookish traditions I’ve started recently, is letting myself by a book on each trip I take, be it small or big!

I have only really started this in the last just under 2 years but I am loving it so far.

Now whenever I read or think about these books, I associate them with the trip 💜✨

Only recently have I noticed that the nightmares have stopped, I can be present without the memory replaying and I finally can recall the shark attack without feeling like I'm back in the water. EMDR is a therapy that helps your brain process traumatic memories, using guided eye movements while you recall them, so they stop feeling like they're happening in the present. Its purpose is to reduce the emotional charge of trauma so you can move forward without being controlled by it. #emdr #traumatherapy
