I once worked under a leader who called a meeting every time something went wrong.
Everybody would sit there while he talked and talked. The next day, the person who caused the problem would still not have been addressed.
One day I raised my hand. “Sir, all of these things you have said, I didn’t do any of them.
Who is the person? Address the person. Leave me alone.”
Many leaders cannot confront poor performance. Maybe you like the person. Maybe they are more confident than you. Maybe they knew you before you got to where you are now.
So everybody gets the lecture, and the one person who needs it gets nothing.
Pruning is part of care. Everybody only wants the watering.
