Cannot thank you enough for all your beautiful wishes,
honestly can’t put into words how I’m feeling, but my heart is so full. I feel incredibly loved, blessed and grateful to have so many wonderful people in my life.

A biggggg thanks to my bff @rehanshahdesigns for this beautiful dress.
Birthdays are incomplete without you creating something special for me and making sure I’m all dressed up. Some traditions are just too precious!
Love you so much

at some point in the 2000s, a lot of us sat in a classroom and wrote a letter to a soldier overseas.

the teacher handed out paper, we grabbed our markers, and we wrote whatever came to mind.

and honestly? some kids really did not understand the assignment.

over the years, service members have shared some of the letters they actually got, and they are incredible.

one soldier got a note that just said “have a good war!” with a drawing of a gun underneath. he posed with it holding a sign that said “actual letter from kid.”

another kid wanted him to know that their mom likes drinking wine. no further context.

one wished a soldier “a good time at the war!” and decorated it with a rainbow, stars, and flower stickers like it was a birthday card.

and then there was Donovan, who wrote the most heartfelt Valentine’s card you’ll ever read, right up until he casually mentioned the soldier would “probably never get to see your family again.” the soldier’s response written at the top: “thanks kid!”

kids have zero filter, and these letters prove it.

but every one of them was written by a kid who genuinely wanted a stranger far from home to feel a little less alone. and that part still counts.

Entering my birthday month like ♏️
@tberolz had Claude roast his photos from our entire photo archives. The biggest takeaway was that over the years (and more specifically since having less time to shoot since becoming parents) we developed patterns that worked for us. He and I pushed ourselves to think differently and switch things up in Paris. These were some of my favorite results.

and just like that, summer transitioned into winter 🥺 honestly it feels like in the blink of an eye. My favourite season is here. Cold weather, so when you step outside you feel it biting your cheeks. One morning there was new snow on top of Esja, and that was it.

Lamps on at four in the afternoon. It’s wool sweater weather, and the boys wear three layers before kindergarten. And the dark is coming back, which for me is the best part.

We spent a wonderful weekend at one of our favourite spots in the East, by the glacier lagoon.

I know many people struggle with the winter darkness here, and I understand. But honestly, it’s the endless summer light that messes with my body. In June I forget to eat, I forget to sleep, I can’t switch off because the sky never does. When the dark comes back, something in me finally relaxes. It feels like the whole island breathes out.

And the dark gives things back. The northern lights are already dancing over our house again. The glaciers are turning blue.

So no, I’m not scared of winter. I’ve been waiting for it.

What do you feel about it?
