Care and support are not extras. For girls and women, they are critical.
Women and girls carry most of the world’s unpaid care work, often at the cost of their own education, health and wellbeing. And when they need care and support themselves, too many can’t find it.
At FORWARD, we see this every day. Our recent survey found that 1 in 3 people didn’t know how to access specialist FGM services. For survivors, culturally competent, trauma-informed support can make the difference between silence and being heard.
That’s why we create safe spaces, from coffee mornings to community workshops, where women and girls can connect, be listened to and find support without judgement. 💜
On #InternationalDayOfCareAndSupport, we’re calling for care systems that are accessible, culturally informed and led by the communities they serve.
Because when women and girls are cared for, communities thrive.
