“You know how he does get when he drink.”

That sentence has excused too much in our Indo-Caribbean community.

We owe our families more than an apology the next morning. And those who grew up around drinking, anger, and fear deserve support—not instructions to forget it.

We can love our culture and take responsibility for what needs to change.

Let the next generation inherit our traditions without inheriting our fear.

If this speaks to you, share it to help open a conversation. You don’t have to share your personal experiences publicly to be heard or deserve help.

🙏🏽 Namaste.

Thank you so much for sharing and teaching our people. Its definitely a lack of one holding themselves accordingly. This post resonates incredibly deeply on a personal level Alcoholism has such a grave impact on our Indo communities, and breaking the silence around these cycles is so necessary for collective healing. Please keep shedding light on this.
