These three Disney Cruise traditions (plus a bonus at the end!!) are sooo fun!! Of course, completely optional though 😄
🚪 Door decorating — many people decorate with Disney themed magnets, and sometimes door-size printed banners. We’ve purchased magnet sets off Amazon, bought personalized magnets from Etsy, and even made our own (ex. Up house)!
🎣 Fish extender — This is a set of connected pockets made of cloth, often with names on each pocket. There is almost always a hook just outside your stateroom door to hang it on!
🧚🏼 Pixie Dust — small gifts that are left for you by other cruisers in your fish extender pockets, or sometimes magnets right on your door! We’ve purchased Disney items in bulk off Amazon including stickers, Mickey bubbles and straws, glow sticks, Mickey and Minnie notepads, and more!
🌟Extras — We also use a magnetic hook to hang a lollipop holder outside our door for others to take. We’ve seen people leave other bags of special/unique candy. We’ve also seen a question of the day with post-it’s on doors! Our favorite activity is bringing 3D printed tiny ducks with Mickey ears (Etsy!) and hiding them all over the ship for others to find!
❌ If you don’t bring a fish extender, we’ve seen people get creative and hang a plastic bag on their door hook for people to leave goodies in!
💻You can find a Facebook group for your cruise and sign up for a fish extender exchange. You’re assigned rooms to pixie dust, and others will be assigned your room. My family does NOT participate in these exchanges. We find it much more fun and natural to go up and down our own hall to leave gifts for those around us, and we always get things too!
🚨Be sure to follow DCL’s guidelines or you may be FINED! No over-the-door hooks/organizers, tape, adhesives, video, sound, or anything on the ceiling or walls around your door!
