I've always been intrigued by the curious irony of how a harmless cultural holiday like Halloween is literally demonised in the name of protecting children by an organisation whose most important and beautiful story hinges so crucially on the macabre details.
From a very young age, we are taught (and shown) how the purest human to ever walk the earth only achieved universal salvation after unspeakable torture, gore and death was publicly inflicted upon him. And yet, some often imply told that even acknowledging or depicting a fraction of that brutal side of life in a fictional, artistic and non-malicious way is somehow blasphemous. That even in its unflinching and unfair nature, it must somehow still adhere to some people's strict, made-up guardrails.
So when I found myself planning a collaborative shoot with like-minded artists around this time of year, the subject matter quickly became a no-brainer.
Because in a world brimming with creative souls, the real sin is censorship.
