Around 2 in 3 prisoners have reading levels below GCSE standard.

Improving literacy equips prisoners with essential life skills needed to secure employment, strengthen family ties and successfully reintegrate into society. By tackling one of the barriers that can contribute to offending, literacy can help create safer communities and reduce reoffending.

That’s why 480,000 Quick Reads books are being delivered to prisons across the country following the national campaign launch at HMP Preston with Prison Reading Laureate Lee Child.

I was an avid reader before going to prison, but I reread (almost) the entire Jack Reacher collection.

Great to see this 👏 We run several types of projects in prisons nationwide, ranging from reading groups to books for parents in prison to read with their children. Books make a phenomenal difference in prisons.
