6 days agoComing from a perspective of not using social media for "livelihood" (promoting art/books/etc). I share what I want to see. If it makes me stop, smile, laugh, think, catch my breath... That's what I want. I share what I want to see more of. I create what makes me happy. And maybe that's "controversial" by not engaging in what is the "trend" now but...there's so much...unhappiness and horribleness in the world..I just want something that's good, y'know? I just want to ...be
6 days agoAbsolutely agreed! Social media feels like such a grind, with trends, matching the algorithm, and so many I know experience burnout—because at what line does it no longer feel like sharing excitement & joys of your art/work and more of just a chore? 😞 I think I’ve now tried to pivot less to worrying about “views” and “followers” (totally get why it’s a focus though, since it’s a dream to share with others!) and doing whatever feels authentically me 🤍 and then if an audience follows, they’re here for the genuine, unfiltered, enthusiastic you! Plus I find the community + engaging with other passionate creatives is so so so fun and beautiful!! 📚🍀
6 days agoI feel this so much. I'm trying to post what feels right and fun to me... but the algorithm pushes that so much less than curated content. On one hand, it can be so much fun participating in trends. But what trends can also be so uncomfortable sometimes? I don't have answers either. Just trying to put positivity and creative fun out in the world. Even if it reaches less, at least I'll enjoy those connections 🫶
6 days agothanks for sharing this, ashe… I resonate a lot with what you mentioned on slide three and am going to be thinking about all of this!!
6 days agoI try to engage with what really appeals to me, and remind myself to pry eyes away from what is clearly “bait” content. I rather miss the “good old days” (hah!) when you had to fight html in order to build a webpage, and (especially in fandom) everyone had pages that overflowed with their quirkiness. I sound like I come from the Pleistocene 🤣 I know I have to make an “author” instagram, but the thought of having to market “me” as a brand is exhausting. I don’t want to farm views or make content for follows, I just want to write, read, be read, and enjoy the journey.
6 days agoI think staying true to yourself and honesty. Maybe not vulnerability, but honesty and genuine, good intentions 🥰 loved what you had to say about this
