Yesterday Parker turned 6.5, the same age Laney was when our lives were changed forever. Parker knew this day was coming because we were transparent with her about it. Initially nervous, we reassured her that age had nothing to do with what happened. The real reason is far more disappointing, but that is a conversation to have when they are older. As I gave Parker a big hug, I could feel the tears fill my eyes. While trying to stay present in that moment, I couldn’t help but drift away…imagining what it would be like to go back in time and hug my Laney one more time 💜
