🇯🇲💚 #DestinConrad continues to give new meaning to a dancehall record with a complicated history. Originally released by T.O.K. in 2001, “Chi-Chi Man” became infamous for its violent anti-gay lyrics, so much so that the group eventually stopped performing it live. Now, Destin has reimagined the record on his ROADRUNNER album, turning it into a celebration of identity while honoring a longstanding tradition of queer Caribbean communities reclaiming the infectious riddim at parties and transforming it into an expression of resilience. Family, y’all here for it?

Yall are weird! You want an offensive song to remain an insult to a community of people. The gays rise above and made into something danceable! Mind you a lot of gay black men ARE JAMAICAN/ AFRICAN…. Please stop acting clueless!
