Me and my dad were in the friendly's in Daytona Beach. And he was sitting four tables away from me and I saw him but I wanted to get up and talk to him. But I was so shy so I decided to respect his time for eating and talking. And I got to meet my favorite driver Wayne Taylor

Very cool Derek! Thanks for sharing and @Goodwood Motorsport History! We’ve been twice! Last July, watching, “Gunther Werks!” Absolutely a Blast! Will be back next July 2027!

I have two; 1) 1982, attending the Silverstone 6 hour (as a 14 year old with my father) at which the 956 made its debut 2) meeting Derek approximately 35 years later in the pits at Brands Hatch during a Porsche Festival, a wonderful man generous with his time.

Hands down the best & nicest race driver I’ve ever met, I’ve been lucky enough to have met Derek multiple times at Goodwood events as a volunteer & had amazing conversations with him. Absolutely love watching him race.
