Katie Nicholas

Hello 👋 in my many morphing states of being, it was as ever great fun to indulge in slipping back into the red dress and embodying the majestic Ms Bush again with the incredible @theclassicdouble band. 🪩💃🏻

Typical of me to think too deep, type too much, but I can’t tell you how grateful I was for every second to be up there wailing my little heart out. There’s so many shows I’ve not gone ahead with this year so this meant so much to me.

I used to think that kind of heart and feeling was only reserved for my own songs but I feel something far-reaching when I put my self aside and step into Kate’s universal shoes and stomp about the stage… its that magic buzz of timelessness. The music of the greats! - It does that.

It’s like an archetypal myth we all run with, decadent songs that escape the decade we’re in - and who knows, would people still listen to these megaliths of music in centuries to come… will we be even here? Am I thinking too deeply, too far, again? Maybe… so with that, like a “rubberband girl” I’ll snap back to the immediate moment and just tell you how ALIVE I felt just to be singing again.

Anyway, supersonic thoughts aside, what a band to stand beside! I was rattling with joy by the speakers, soaking up the Peter Gabriel set and watching Iain and the band absolutely nail it! Every single musician on stage was truly amazing and it’s a honour to be a cog of one incredible moving piece.

Lastly, thank you @campandfurnace and the incredible guys on sound! To @drgoldschwartz for being the force behind all of this - don’t miss the other Classic Double shows (next up Dire Straits & Sting) and to @lukeheague Adam G @andywile95 @naomicampbellmusic and the lovely @leahxjones newly on synth/keys! 👏🏼👏🏼

I hope I can do this so much MORE and pick up on everything I’ve left off v soon. 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹
