7 red flags in a freelance gig 🚩
Not every bad client is a scam, but these are worth slowing down for:
You pay to start. A real client pays you.
The "test" is real work. A sample is one small piece, not a full project.
No clear scope. If they can't say what, how much, or by when, you'll do three jobs for one price.
Overpayment. They send too much and ask for the difference back. The first payment reverses later.
Odd payment methods. Gift cards, crypto, or a wire to a personal account before any work.
Rushed and secretive. Urgency plus "let's move off the platform" is a pattern.
Nothing in writing. No scope, no price, no deadline means no way to get paid when it goes wrong.
