What’s she munching on today? 🤪 NASTURTIUM — A little FLOWER WITH A LOT OF oomph 🌼

As a herbalist, I’m fascinated by the medicinal properties of the plants growing right in my gardens.

Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus) is more than an edible flower. It contains sulphur-containing compounds called glucosinolates, which give it that distinctive peppery taste 🌿🌼🌿 These compounds have demonstrated antimicrobial activity and are of interest for their antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties.

🌿 Traditional herbal medicine has used nasturtium to support urinary health, including UTIs, and other infections. A wonderful reminder that plants offer us so much more than their beauty.

Have you used nasturtium medicinally, or do you simply enjoy eating its flowers? Tell me in the comments 🤩
