Youre looking at the SOLE female amputee finisher of the 2026 Marine Corps Marathon ☝🏻 It has been a roller coaster of emotions since I finished. Being proud that I made it but also a little disappointed that I didnt reach what I thought was my full potential. Also the blisters under my toenails and the swelling of my stump has not put me in the best mood post run. When i got the results time, I saw we were 200th from the back, but I was 2nd of “Female Lower Limb Loss” (not including anyone in the wheeled categories). After further investigation, 1st place for the category was on a running trike. Though Im sure she still worked incredibly hard, I realized I was the ONLY female amputee finisher. Out of nearly 25,000 runners, I was the only one. And I am beyond proud of that. I was not a runner before I lost my leg. I never planned to become a runner. But as all my friends and family remind me, when I set my mind to something, I do it. And through hell and high water, we did it. Day after amputation Annika had no idea what was in store, but I know she would be incredibly proud of what we are able to accomplish. #amputee #femaleamputee #mcm #runwiththemarines #story
