I didn't get here alone. Not one step of it.

Somebody believed in me before I had the title. Somebody answered the call, made the introduction, told me the truth when I needed it. That's what investing in people looks like. And it's the real route to success.

Last year I stood in front of a room full of awesome women in New York, hoping to fuel their futures. It took me right back to almost 15 years of standing in front of my students as an educator and coach. It also reminded me of every educator, coach and mentor who stood in front of me, guiding me, leading me and showing me how to be me.

What I didn't know then was that the stage was just the beginning. The women of @taketheleadwithus saw something in me and kept investing. @alisonmdesir, the woman in this photo, is one of a few women who changed my path. I went from standing on that stage to leading an amazing group of women in a mentorship program that empowers even more women. That's what happens when people pour into you.

Alison, @iammarthagarcia and @jmurphy628: thank you for investing in me. You three are the heart of Take The Lead, and you poured into me in ways I'll never forget. I don't take it lightly, and I'm passing it on.
