I was surprised to learn that many of the formal English garden designs I’m drawn to originated in France. But not truly, the french just know.

A parterre garden design is made of geometrical shapes enclosed by hedges and filled with flowers, mulch or gravel. Flowers for me please.🌷 I love the look of boxwoods with brightly colored flowers tucked inside of them.

I had fun creating my own parterre garden design. Very simple. I'll share more on that soon

This is information I found on the history :
Claude Mollet: The style was first developed in France around 1595 by royal garden designer Claude Mollet, who introduced compartment-patterned beds to royal estates like Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Fontainebleau.

While Mollet drew early structural inspiration from the Italian Renaissance layout, he is universally credited by historians as the man who developed, named, and birthed the parterre garden
