WHEN ART MAKES YOU FEEL SEEN…
Another beautiful evening at Lena Waithe Presents: Around the Table, this time featuring @brooklynn_fields theatrical play, The Committee, directed by @fednajacquet .
Every once in a while, you experience a piece of art that doesn't just entertain you… it reaches into your soul, touches a place you thought only you knew existed, and reminds you that you're not alone in what you've felt.
This was THAT experience for me. ❤️
Brooklyn Fields, I don't know how you did it, but there were moments when I felt as though you had somehow read pages from my own journal. The words, the emotions, the vulnerability, the moments of truth… I felt every bit of it.
I laughed. I cheered. I cried. And somewhere between those moments, I felt seen. I felt heard. 🥹❤️
THAT is the power of extraordinary storytelling.
Beautifully written, thoughtfully directed, and brought to life by a wonderful cast, The Committee was more than a reading for me. It was an experience that stayed with me long after the final words were spoken.
Congratulations to Brooklyn Fields, director Fedna Jaquet, and everyone involved in bringing this incredible work to life. I cannot WAIT to see it fully realized on stage! 👏🏽
And of course, sharing another wonderful evening with my girl Tasia made it even sweeter. I'm always grateful for our time together, supporting the arts, sharing experiences, and making memories. 💕
Sometimes we go to the theater to escape our lives. Other times, we discover a piece of ourselves waiting for us on that stage.
Tonight was the latter.
