🏉 Match Report: Oakmeadians, Vectis Cubs & New Milton U12s Festival
📅 Date: 1st November 2026
📍 Venue: Oakmeadians RFC
🏆 Event: Development Festival vs. New Milton
While low player numbers meant we couldn’t play a full traditional match, our U12 girls—combining forces with Oakmeadians and hosting New Milton—refused to let that slow them down! They turned the day into an absolute showcase of skill, teamwork, and resilience in a mini-tournament format.
💪 Standout Performances & Grit
The energy across the pitch was electric, and our girls showed just how much hard work is paying off on the training ground:
Player of the Match – Amelia: A phenomenal debut! In her very first full-contact game, Amelia played like a seasoned pro—getting stuck in, bouncing back instantly from a minor knock, and leading from the front to set the standard for the team.
Alba: Put in a defensive masterclass, throwing herself into dominant tackles that kept the opposition on the back foot all day.
Anabelle: Dictated the game with constant pressure off the line and vocal leadership that could be heard across the entire pitch, directly creating multiple tries.
Ylva: Brought absolute fire to the pitch after waiting eagerly for a game. Her tackling technique was spot-on, successfully bringing down players above her weight division!
🌟 Coach’s Corner
“It was disappointing to not get the numbers for a full game today, but the girls didn’t let it slow them down. They were ferocious during the ‘friendly’ and you could tell they had been waiting for this opportunity. We are very proud of them all.”
— Lewy Morton, Coach
📈 Looking Ahead
Communication across the board was fantastic, and it was brilliant to see everything we’ve practiced in training translate seamlessly onto the pitch. A massive testament to the girls’ dedication week in, week out!
Next up, we head to Trojans next week! We’ll be looking to use the space on a bigger pitch, showcase our handling skills, and build on this fantastic momentum.
