A Massive Week for Vectis RFC! 🌹🏉 We are absolutely buzzing to share some incredible recognition for our club! We’ve received a personal video message from Red Roses Captain, Meg Jones, and a wonderful letter from RFU President, Deborah Griffin OBE. Both Meg and Deborah highlighted the amazing work happening here at Vectis—from our 300+ young players hitting the pitch every Sunday to the tireless efforts of our coaches and volunteers. As the only youth rugby club on the Island, we know we face unique challenges, but hearing that the Red Roses are watching and cheering us on makes it all worth it! A huge shout-out to: • Our incredible players (ages 6-18) • Our dedicated coaches and volunteers • The families who travel across the Solent to support the game Good luck to Meg and the Red Roses at Allianz Stadium this Saturday! We’ll be there in the stands cheering you on! 🎟️🙌 #VectisRFC #RedRoses #isleofwight @wightlinkcommunity @iwightradio @_island_echo_ @iwcountypress @iwcpsport @bbchampshire @isleofwightrfc @sandownshanklinrfc @ventnorrfc @hampshire_rfu_official @englandrugby @redrosesrugby @wightwolvesrugby @amy_dale02 @lealnumber8 @oliviaconstable.x @rory.taylorr @snapsponsorship by @vectis_rfc

🏉 Vectis RFC U12s Festival Report – Farnborough Our Under 12s hit the road for our furthest away fixture in a while! With a later start time, the squad took a little while to wake up against a well-drilled Winchester side who were already firing from their morning games. As the day progressed, so did our momentum and confidence! 🌟 🛡️ Highlights & Defense Defensive Masterclass: By far our best defensive display came in the second half of our third game against Wimborne, defending phase after phase with a tackle and turnover count the team can be immensely proud of. Try Time: Hugh Ramsey kept his ever-growing try count ticking over with brilliant speed and great awareness of space on the outside. Tackle Machine: Leonardo Skittlethorpe-Davis put in one of the highest tackle counts of the day—highlighted by an incredible four tackles made consecutively! Fantastic Debuts: Huge congratulations to Ralph Farman and Freddie Kemp on making their debuts for the team! 🌟 Players of the Day Ralph Farman: An outstanding debut performance featuring some of the best tackle technique in the team combined with strong carrying. Definitely one to watch! Albee Lynch: Put in endless hard work in defense and at the breakdown, securing multiple crucial turnovers. Well done, boys! 👏 📋 Coach’s Corner “Lots of positives from today. The physicality and aggression in contact was some of the best on the field. Generally, we defended too narrow and subsequently were punished out wide—nothing we can’t put right in training. Well done all!” — Ed Lynch, Coach by @vectis_rfc
🏉 Match Report: Vectis U11s Boys at Farnborough Festival 📅 Date: 1st November 2026 📍 Venue: Farnborough RFC 🏆 Event: Rugby Festival What a statement performance from our Under 11s boys today! Traveling over to Farnborough, the squad put on a masterclass across the festival, completely dominating their fixtures with incredible scorelines: Vectis 11 - 0 Fareham Vectis 10 - 0 Alresford Vectis 6 - 0 Havant From the first whistle to the last, the boys displayed rock-solid defense, fierce rucking, and textbook tackling. In attack, they executed lightning-fast hands to get the ball wide quickly, paired with brilliant spatial positioning that left the opposition chasing shadows. ⭐ Standout Team Performance With a display of rugby like that, it would be impossible to single out just one player. This was a phenomenal, collective team effort from every single boy on the pitch, working seamlessly together as a true unit. 🌟 Coach’s Corner “The boys were exceptional today and listened to all the instructions perfectly. This now sets the standard for Vectis U11 rugby.” — Steve Keyzor, Coach 📈 Development & Focus While the handling, positioning, and defensive work rate were top-tier, the squad will continue focusing on sharpening pitch-side communication as we build on this incredible standard moving forward. by @vectis_rfc
🏉 Match Report: Vectis U9s at Farnborough Festival 📅 Date: 1st November 2026 📍 Venue: Farnborough RFC 🏆 Event: Mini Rugby Development Festival Despite unexpectedly freezing conditions, our Under 9s turned up the heat at the Farnborough Festival today! Fielding two squads across 5 to 6 matches against stiff opposition—including Winchester, Overton, Andover, Farnborough, and Havant—both Vectis teams showed incredible resilience, teamwork, and non-stop energy from the first whistle to the last. Off the pitch, the team spirit was unmatched (complete with mid-festival conga lines and high-fives!). On the pitch, the rugby was top-tier. Vectis 1 went toe-to-toe with Winchester in an absolute thriller of a match, while Vectis 2 grew stronger with every game, culminating in a brilliant team-worked try finished by George. ⭐ Standout Performances & Players of the Day Vectis 1 Player of the Day – Jamie: A tackling machine who combined ferocious defense with outstanding discipline and technique. Vectis 2 Player of the Day – Daniel: Showed immense power and determination on the drive—including crossing the try line with half the opposition hanging off him! Arthur & Ada (Vectis 1): Arthur was unstoppable on the wing, running in an incredible 11 tries, while Ada drove hard into contact to add to the tally. Finnley, Harry & Elodie (Vectis 2): Huge tackling from Finnley, direct running from Harry, and a fantastic debut festival performance from Elodie! 🌟 Coaches’ Corner “Both Winchester coaches were hugely complimentary of Vectis, saying they didn’t want the game to end because of the immense attack and defense from both sides. A superb performance all round!” — Chris & Tim, Coaches by @vectis_rfc
🏉 Match Report: Oakmeadians & Vectis U14 Cubs vs. New Milton 📅 Date: 1st November 2026 📍 Venue: Oakmeadians RFC 🏆 Event: League Match 📊 Final Score: Oak Cubs 36 - 21 New Milton (Win) What a performance! The U14 Vectis Cubs teamed up once again with the Oakmeadians U14 girls to face a strong New Milton side in today’s league fixture. Building on the friendships forged at previous events, the newly dubbed ‘Oak Cubs’ put on an absolute masterclass of rugby. Sizing up the opposition early, the Oak Cubs caught New Milton off guard with two quick tries. While New Milton fought back hard to equal the first-half try count, some fantastic boot-work from Daisy on the conversions ensured our girls kept a vital lead heading into the break! 💪 Standout Performances & Key Moments The team showed incredible growth, dominating the set-pieces and adjusting brilliantly to 8-girl scrums: Player of the Match – Evie: An absolute warrior! Heading onto the pitch carrying injuries because she refused to let her teammates down, Evie put in a stellar shift at second row—making a total nuisance of herself across the pitch with big carries, heavy tackles, and a well-deserved try to boot. As Evie put it: “I’m so glad I played in the end otherwise I wouldn’t have made that try.... Obviously!” Aitana: Led the defensive line with trademark ferocious tackling—including a jaw-dropping try-saving tackle just before half-time—while dominating the rucks. Julia: Stepped up into the hooker role with some initial nerves, but showed total flair and reliability, ensuring the ball made it cleanly to the back every single time. Lexi: Delivered a huge game with dominant carries and stellar defensive communication, anchoring a solid midfield wall that New Milton simply couldn’t break through. 🌟 Coach’s Corner “The Oakmeadians and Cubs have gelled so well together, and it really showed in their game today. We really appreciate the invite as it has allowed us to gain some great in-game experience. See you next weekend at Trojans!” — Lewy Morton, Coach by @vectis_rfc
🏉 Match Report: Oakmeadians, Vectis Cubs & New Milton U12s Festival 📅 Date: 1st November 2026 📍 Venue: Oakmeadians RFC 🏆 Event: Development Festival vs. New Milton While low player numbers meant we couldn’t play a full traditional match, our U12 girls—combining forces with Oakmeadians and hosting New Milton—refused to let that slow them down! They turned the day into an absolute showcase of skill, teamwork, and resilience in a mini-tournament format. 💪 Standout Performances & Grit The energy across the pitch was electric, and our girls showed just how much hard work is paying off on the training ground: Player of the Match – Amelia: A phenomenal debut! In her very first full-contact game, Amelia played like a seasoned pro—getting stuck in, bouncing back instantly from a minor knock, and leading from the front to set the standard for the team. Alba: Put in a defensive masterclass, throwing herself into dominant tackles that kept the opposition on the back foot all day. Anabelle: Dictated the game with constant pressure off the line and vocal leadership that could be heard across the entire pitch, directly creating multiple tries. Ylva: Brought absolute fire to the pitch after waiting eagerly for a game. Her tackling technique was spot-on, successfully bringing down players above her weight division! 🌟 Coach’s Corner “It was disappointing to not get the numbers for a full game today, but the girls didn’t let it slow them down. They were ferocious during the ‘friendly’ and you could tell they had been waiting for this opportunity. We are very proud of them all.” — Lewy Morton, Coach 📈 Looking Ahead Communication across the board was fantastic, and it was brilliant to see everything we’ve practiced in training translate seamlessly onto the pitch. A massive testament to the girls’ dedication week in, week out! Next up, we head to Trojans next week! We’ll be looking to use the space on a bigger pitch, showcase our handling skills, and build on this fantastic momentum. by @vectis_rfc
Proud of the Fight: Vectis U13 Boys Show Grit in Tough Battle Away at New Milton It was a challenging Sunday away for our Vectis U13 Boys as they took on a formidable New Milton RFC side. While the scoreboard didn’t fall in our favour today, it was a deeply competitive clash that offered invaluable learning experiences for the squad. Match Summary & Key Moments The boys came out of the gates with incredible defensive intensity. For the opening 15 minutes, Vectis put up a heroic defensive wall, frustrating the hosts and keeping the game locked deadlocked at 0-0. Vectis turned in an outstanding performance in the scrum, maintaining strong platform work throughout the match. Jack P set the tone early in the first half with some stellar individual play, while Edward C worked relentlessly at the breakdown, putting his hands over every ball all game long. As New Milton pushed hard in the second half, Albert B and Henry D stepped up with several crucial, goal-line-saving tackles. Standout Performances Opposition Man of the Match: Arlo W — Recognized by New Milton for his outstanding effort and impact across the pitch. Coaches’ Player of the Game: Edward C — A tireless shift from start to finish, leading by example in every contest. Coach’s Corner “The boys are naturally disappointed after a tough result, but the score line certainly didn’t reflect how hard they fought out there. We’ve learnt a lot today, and it’s important to keep perspective—this remains our only loss so far this season. We go back to training, focus on simple execution and handling, and come back stronger.” — Steve Dixon, Head Coach Development Focus Ahead This match highlighted brilliant individual grit and powerful forward set-pieces. Our primary focus heading into this week’s training will be refining our handling, keeping our passing simple under pressure, and letting our forward pack do more of the heavy carrying. Head up, boys—onward and upward! 💜💙💜 by @vectis_rfc
