Day 70 of posting a reason to stay every day for 100 days.
Today’s reason is imaginary play (with or without my kids).
These are actually my childhood micro machines. I would play with these exact toys for hours and hours and hours.
And maybe that’s why I gravitated towards games like Age of Empires, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and then later Minecraft. Being able to imagine and then create is such a powerful thing.
Edmund and I, mainly me, created a battle scene with a full story and stakes. It took me back to being that 6 year old making up wars and epic battles on the kitchen table.
If I ended my life today, I’d never get to slow down, sit down, and play make-believe with my kids. I’d never get to be reminded that life isn’t all about job titles, but enjoying the life I’ve been given with the people that have been given to me.
