In workshopping my artist statement I've been challenged to describe what I mean by liminal science-fiction, subtle cast of thoughtforms, celestial phenomena, and metaphysical surrealism and guess I'm referring to the experience I have after saying "I call upon my angels" which as a youngster I would do while trying to fall asleep and now I might do once in some kind of meditative state or frame of mind and the figures will appear in different forms like talking balls of light or animals often it's a 900 year old road worn mystic and crew honestly a kind of ancient Frank Zappa looking type if Frank Zappa was stoic and once I'm there in some kind of landscape with the angels I get a message or a feeling of clarity. Now usually this is happening when I'm sitting meditating but I've done it while looking at the stars which are not too visible in NYC but I can get the same celestial feeling from the urban lighting grid, I tend to wonder about a system of astrology based on it, and regarding the liminal sci-fi and narrative I imagine that the angels and thoughtforms, a thoughtform being a kind of materialization of a thought or feeling with a life of its own, having a whole life outside of the moment I call upon them, I wonder what their lives are like and how many dimensions there are, probably infinite, and the reason I'm calling it sci-fi is because I don't have a lot of clarity about what metaphysical surrealism looks like to me, it's not exactly soft shapes or geometric patterns I think it's more like AR, augmented reality, superimposed on the world as I see it, but with a different atmosphere like how on a different planet where there would be different gases making normal things like the sky and grass different colors like the sky would be green and space grass would be purple and there are 5 suns. It's self divination. I like how oil painting feels like time-based media and perpetual work in progress just like life, and all of life just goes into a painting or any kind of art work a person might make, evidence of a life lived a particular way, a message to the future, also I'm rebelling against the repeated suggestion to use shorter sentences.
