For so long, we can find ourselves focusing on what we want our children to learn, change or achieve.

But sometimes, the most meaningful moments begin when we stop directing and start observing. 🤍

I’ve been learning about an approach called joining, and it’s encouraged me to look at repetitive behaviours through a different lens.

Not every behaviour needs to be interrupted. Sometimes our children are simply finding comfort, joy or regulation in their own way.

And perhaps we can begin by meeting them there.

Connection doesn’t always look like words, eye contact or playing together in the way we expect.

Sometimes it’s quieter than that.

And it’s still meaningful. 🤍

Have you heard of joining before?
