History has been made in Georgia! Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has won the race for governor, defeating Republican Rick Jackson and becoming the first Black woman elected governor in United States history.

The historic victory marks a major political milestone as Bottoms breaks barriers and prepares to lead the Peach State.

What are your thoughts on this historic win?

I am so proud of my mom. She has always worked harder than anyone I know, always putting herself and her own needs last.

During her time at DOI, I witnessed her bring an incredible humility to her position that had never been experienced by that (or any) department before. She knows that personal connections matter, and her empath spirit has always helped her to be a great leader.

Everything she does, she does with her whole heart. And throughout this campaign, as each one before, she has stayed fierce through criticism and doesn’t waver from her mission: to make life better for everyone under these extreme conditions.

I think she was chosen for this path just as much as she chose to step up to the plate, and to go to bat for our people and our beautiful state.

Please go vote. We need people in every corner. 💌
