Something beautiful happened in 2023. With the bitter came the sweet. I have been following and admiring @rustjewellery for many years, their gentle designs inspired by nature and each piece full of meaning and soul. Slow and traditional craftsmanship at its finest. I dreamt of one day asking them to design my wedding rings which seemed like a distant dream until one day, during a conversation between myself and Nao, the founder of Rust Jewellery, I explained that I had made a promise to myself that instead of waiting to fall in love to get my ring and, in some ways, to begin my life, I decided to get myself a ring, not as a married woman, not a single woman but as Dunia. To my delight, they gifted me my favourite one of their designs, the carved Laurel Leaf ring, as a collaboration to, hopefully inspire other women, at any stage in life, not to hold off on happiness and not to wait until love arrives but to build a life based in love in all it’s many forms. I have found love, not in a man but in this beautiful piece of art. It sits on my wedding finger, filling the empty space with a gentle reminder of all the love I have in my life and most of all, my love of nature. Thank you Nao and the Rust team.
