A bit of Grease on the old DiaCompe brake bushings really improves the performance and adjustability, not a bad design really , with new pads and proper angle adjustment these work quite well, and if there is too much play on the stud and the brake they have the bonus feature of making a bell unnecessary 😉

Always seemed like the best canties still weren't quite as good as the most basic v breaks. I have a theory that the only reason they were used as much as they were was not getting jammed with mud as much
