Punishing traumatised children doesn’t work.

There are a few reasons, but one logical explanation is that taking away something (an Xbox, a lunchtime break, etc.) from a child who’s lost everything simply doesn’t register.

Why would it?

If everything you’ve ever known and loved is gone, what difference does it make to lose something insignificant?

My son has lost his father. I practice conscious parenting with him. Sometimes I wonder if I’m being helpful or effective. Do you have sign posting for me?

Love this and I feel like there needs to be so much more content across the board on this. I listened to the most amazing @alfie._.kohn webinar on this topic and the way Alfie presented the research on the impacts of using punishments/ rewards to manage behaviour was profound🙌
