Real love is more than skin deep. It becomes a part of you, reaching into the places that no one else can see.
my tattoos can't be seen
and it's not
that I won't show them
but when the ink
has leeched
below the surface
and into my very soul,
coursing through
to all my extremities,
there is only one
I'll let beneath this skin

This is beautiful. The idea of love 'leeching below the surface' and becoming a literal part of your anatomy is such a powerful image. True connection really does run deeper than what is visible to the world.

The ink leeching below the surface and into the soul is a striking way to say love is not on display. I kept returning to that turn from visible tattoos to something unseen.
