Letting my words find their space to breathe. There is beauty in everyday moments, but never be afraid to walk among the shadows.

POSTS STORIES REELS

Had a few new people come along, so thought I better show the face behind the account. I am an amateur Australian poet, who is still very much learning the craft while learning alot about myself. My poetry is a little eclectic, and not always conventional.

I write from the heart, covering a gamut of emotions and experiences. Sometimes my writing is quiet, other times it's a little messy and raw. Like everyone, my path has been a little bumpy at times. Emotions as we know aren't always linear.

I feel this haynaku pretty much sums me up. I work pretty hard at everything I do, but don't always get it right, making lots of mistakes along the way. I reflect alot and think deeply about things. But there's one thing I'm sure of, you'll find poetry here that is very much me. I hope some of this work resonates with you.

So thanks for stopping by my little corner of IG and welcome on the journey.

Not
always perfect,
but always me

I'm looking for words
that I can call my own,
not borrowed phrases
from someone else's storm,
just something honest,
unpolished,
and mine,
the kind that sits with you
long after the hesitation,
quiet but certain,
like a friend who doesn't need
to say much
to be understood

I still think of dreams
I've lost along the way,
not with a bitterness
but a melancholy
that settles in quiet places,
like the scent of rain
lingering through forests,
a reminder that our lives
renew without fanfare
in the undergrowth

Real love is more than skin deep. It becomes a part of you, reaching into the places that no one else can see.

my tattoos can't be seen
and it's not
that I won't show them
but when the ink
has leeched
below the surface
and into my very soul,
coursing through
to all my extremities,
there is only one
I'll let beneath this skin

It always helps to have someone who'll sit with us, listen and let the world be quiet for a little while. Share this with someone who feels like your safe place.

Lay your burdens here
under the moon,
where even shadows
share their secrets
beneath its
ephemeral glow,
knowing
you are not alone,
even in the darkness
between fading stars

I caught myself scrolling the other day, eyes glazed over, mind racing through twenty different things.

We can spend so much time taking in everyone else’s lives that we forget to make time for our own.

We're starved by an
overconsumption
of distraction,
until gratitude
sets the table
with everything
that was already
within reach

The right people don't change who we are. They just make us a little less afraid of trying on a version of ourselves we've kept hidden from view.

I don't know why
but you made it
feel like
the right time
to take off those
well worn inhibitions
and try something
from a different wardrobe

Was out on a drive in the country, well away from the city lights and I pulled over to see the most amazing skies.

I think there's something comforting about looking up at the stars and remembering how much exists beyond what we can understand.

It reminded me that somewhere in all the darkness, there are always points of light that manages to shine.

As stars glint
in a silent chorus,
I look for consolation
in a universe draped
with blankets of
velvet and ash
where flickers of hope
reach out
just to touch the dark

I think we spend so much time thinking we should be somewhere else that we forget to enjoy the place we're already in.

Those sounds were familiar
as I sat on my doorstep
listening to the evening
settle into itself
and for a moment
nothing felt missing
so stopped looking
for somewhere else to be

We don't have to make sense of every feeling in order to let it pass. Not every sadness needs a reason and not every thought needs an answer.

Some days, it's enough to feel what we feel and get on with our lives.

I long to feel
a blissful detachment,
like the final note
of a song
that has left
its instrument,
still resonant
beyond the tune

Even when you stumble through the darkness, the light somehow always finds its way back.

I am fading
like the sun
that washes into
distant horizons,
comforted by
the night's
blankets of solitude,
but aware that
tomorrow will arrive
with pockets full
of light,
asking me
to begin again

How many of us are still holding onto something we've never quite found the words to let go of?

Hearts have a habit
of keeping rooms
reserved for ghosts,
just a strip of light
under the door,
an unmade bed
and a slow seep
of tears
rusting the hinges
