@a.kaballo Thank you for sharing! Prior to the European invasion (adopted this the term after reading about Burkina Faso and their reforms for teaching history in schools) African societies seldom used corporal punishment. The cane and corporal punishment was introduced by Europeans and missionaries. A recent reference: Critical Examination of Culture for Explaining Corporal Punishment: The Akan of Ghana in Perspective. Alex J. Wilson, Nana Aba Egyimah-Wilson https://doi.org/10.1111/ aeq.70068Digital Object Identifier (DOI) There are also many videos showing African parents been harsh on their kids compared to European parents. This may suggest that harsh parenting is African. Unfortunately what we see today is due to European influence. Its high time we get back to our roots.

Flagellation is a form of torture. In medieval Europe, people convicted of offences were sometimes whipped to death. In schools, there was the inferior discipline and superior discipline. The former involved whipping of the lower parts of the body such as the posteriors and the latter involved the upper parts of the body. Whipping of children, especially boys on their posteriors, has been linked to the unusual development of sexual behaviors from an early age. Whipping in schools provided excellent places for active sadists to express their desires. So many teachers derived pleasure from whipping children. Also, some aristocrats in Europe, especially in Britain, were masochists by which they engaged in erotic whipping where they'd be whipped by female prostitutes in parlours. This would soon be replaced with massage parlours where the tapping of body produce the same desires as being whipped by a prostitute.

I noticed she specified SCHOOL beatings. Is the Same true for home? Children were not beaten at home before colonialism?

Most of the things about African we hate are in reality not African rooted. The so called jungle justice is also from the invaders. We do not have names for these things because they do not exist in our language. Strange foreign behaviors.
