Ahead of COP31, Climate Action Network is releasing its position paper on the IPCC AR7 timeline, equity and alignment with the Second Global Stocktake (GST-2).
Science and equity must go hand in hand. CAN reaffirms its commitment to the 1.5°C warming limit as the legal and moral baseline for countries’ obligations to address climate change and climate justice. Efforts to meet these obligations must be informed by equity between and within countries, taking proper account of historical responsibilities and respective capabilities.
