Mother Camila & stepfather told the Post she was on the jet flying from Austin to the Bahamas when it nosedived & killed all 9.
She earned her private pilot license at 17 in September 2023 through the Palm Beach County school district Aviation Academy while still a senior at West Boca Raton High School, before she even had a driver’s license.
She started ground school in 2020 going into sophomore year & had 88 hours logged.
Family is Brazilian & lived in the US. Father began flying recreationally in 2018 & taught her.
Commercial certificate issued March 19 2026.

Yes you can fly a jet at a young age, but don’t act like it’s an easy license to obtain. The legal age of driving is 16 because it’s easy and practically anyone who knows how to do pattern recognition can pass. The reason why the legal age of flying an airplane is lower is because it’s not accessible to everyone and it takes way more skill and effort and knowledge not to mention multiple series of testing oral and written. So it’s not the age that’s it’s her fault nor either it’s just what happens when weather doesn’t go as planned
