ad ‘Responsibly sourced’ from ‘crystal clear Scottish coastal waters’.

Don’t buy it.

Here’s what the packaging leaves out.

All Scottish salmon on supermarket shelves comes from factory farms, where more than 35 million farmed salmon died unexpectedly in under three years. 48,000 kg of formaldehyde was discharged directly into Scottish lochs by salmon farms in 2025. Mowi, who supply everywhere from Waitrose, Lidl and Itsu had revenues of £4.89 billion, yet taxpayers have still handed them more than £11 million in grants since 2019.
