What a wonderful evening we had at Cardozo Law School screening Sixteen Years in recognition of Wrongful Conviction Day.
From sharing Jeff’s story with such an engaged audience to meeting incredible people like exonerees Derrick Hamilton and Nelson Cruz, the entire experience was so meaningful.
Cardozo is home to a rich history of legal advocacy, including the founding of the Innocence Project, and being invited to screen my film there was an honor I won’t soon forget.
When I started making documentaries, my goal was simply to give a voice to people who had been failed by the justice system.
Being able to bring these stories into spaces where future lawyers, advocates, and changemakers are learning and exchanging ideas is exactly why this work matters so much to me.
A night I’ll remember for a long time. 🙌🏽
