Stunts Unlimited Member Dick Ziker, Stunt Coordinator for the Brian De Palma movie Carrie, recalled the iconic car flip he performed for the film, “It was the third car cannon ever, after Hal Needham and Gary McLarty, so the technology was incredibly new. We all know how the first cannon treated Hal… Bobby Bass really egged me on, but De Palma wanted to pull the plug when someone told him I was gonna get killed! I begged him to let me do it, I had been waiting for this moment for a long time. Even the cast, including Sissy Spacek,John Travolta and Nancy Allen, had been waiting around for hours after their wrap to watch the show. Brian relented and when everything was set I took off - 5 car rolls in my belt broke and I was knocking around the inside of the car till the car finally stopped at the 8 1/2 roll.
