Today was about the sidelines.
At the 2026 NYC Marathon, I found myself drawn to the people who weren’t running.
Friends making signs right there on the sidewalk. Families searching for familiar faces. Strangers cheering for people they’d never met.
And those brief moments when someone finally spots their runner, the shouting, the hugs, the laughter, the emotion before the race carries on.
Some connections were made that morning. Others went back years.
I went looking for moments of support and found them everywhere.

No one who comes out to support their runner has any idea how much it means to their runner… There simply aren’t words!!
