Salam Maria, penuh rahmat, Tuhan sertamu,

terpujilah engkau di antara wanita, dan terpujilah buah tubuhmu, Yesus.

Santa Maria, Bunda Allah, doakanlah kami yang berdosa ini, sekarang dan waktu kami mati. Amin.

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was reportedly detained from his residence in Gurugram on Saturday morning, October 10, hours before the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi.

According to reports by News18, cited by Moneycontrol and Hindustan Times, police personnel reached Rathee’s residence at Kendriya Vihar society in Sector 56, Gurugram, and took him into custody ahead of the demonstration. While reports identified Delhi Police as the agency behind the detention, ABP News reported that more than 30 Gurugram Police personnel had arrived at the location. An official explanation for the detention was not immediately available.

The development came less than a day after Rathee shared a video questioning the extensive security restrictions imposed across Delhi. He described the measures as an almost complete lockdown and criticised the authorities over the disruption to public transport and movement. Police, meanwhile, have maintained that the restrictions are precautionary measures intended to preserve law and order.

Rathee had earlier joined CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and actor Prakash Raj at a demonstration in Bengaluru on October 8, supporting demands for the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

The YouTuber has also faced legal complaints and defamation proceedings in India. In September, Delhi Police informed a court that it was investigating a complaint concerning allegedly offensive remarks about Hindu religious figures in one of his videos. Separately, a defamation case filed by BJP leader Suresh Nakhua remains part of his legal history. However, the claim that more than five criminal cases have been filed against him could not be independently verified.

Questions have also been raised about Rathee’s citizenship and visa status. Former Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao has reportedly sought a Union Home Ministry investigation into whether Rathee’s participation in political demonstrations complies with Indian immigration laws. His alleged German citizenship has not been independently established.
