The end of “THWS” in North America by @zacharygray The Woodlands > New Orleans > Southaven
“One night I was complaining about a silly stiff neck from chores, and 48 hours later, I was in an ICU bed, suffocating as my body quietly paralyzed itself from the neck down. At 17, I did everything running the house, studying for college, and dancing till my feet hurt. One day, when an ache settled into my neck, I brushed it off. I’d survived 4 years of migraines, so a little pain was nothing. I took a pill, assumed I’d pulled a muscle, and went to sleep. At 3:00 AM on December 23rd, I woke up screaming. The pain felt like someone was snapping my spine in half. Within hours, the nightmare swallowed me whole. I started puking violently four times in a row. That was the moment terror set in for my parents; they knew this wasn’t just a migraine anymore. The pain crept into every nerve, turning my muscles to stone. First, I lost the ability to move my head. Then, my voice slipped away. I remember trying desperately to look at my mother, but my body had frozen. Trapped inside my own skin, I couldn’t even whisper for help. The shift was brutal. How do you go from complaining about a simple neck strain while washing dishes to lying under hospital lights with central lines feeding into your body, listening to doctors whisper about central nervous system damage? The ICU bills were crippling, but my family never made me feel like a burden for even a second. They stood outside the glass, praying for a sign of life from the girl who used to fill our home with energy. Yet, sitting in that cold room, staring into the dark, something shifted inside me. My body had locked up, but my spirit refused to follow suit. I looked at my mother holding my motionless hand, believing in me when I couldn’t even breathe on my own, and I made a silent vow: I was coming back. Slowly, light found its way back. It started with a twitch of a finger, a whisper, a breath on my own. Now, my days are filled with relentless physio. I haven’t fully recovered yet, but my spirit is unbreakable. A minor ache stole my health in hours, but it couldn’t steal my future. Looking back at how close I came to losing everything, I know one thing for certain: if I can survive this, I can do anything.”

I feel that true creativity (most of the time) should start out as a selfish act rather than something that considers how others would feel about it. If you lean too heavy on others opinions early in your process, you may actually do more damage than good to your own mentality…. It’s a fine line tho. Think about it.😮‍💨📌 How y’all feel about this one?
