To see a visual summary of my tourism studies journey, including key milestones and study visits, you can explore my interactive Padlet map here: padlet.com/Viktor_Spasenkov/Portfolio

Through these experiences, I’ve developed strong skills in guiding, cultural understanding, and working independently. I’ve learned how to communicate with different customer groups, plan short tours, and adjust to different working environments, from outdoor settings to city hotels.

This journey has confirmed my interest in guiding and outdoor tourism, especially in Northern Finland. My goal is to continue building my skills and work in year-round guiding roles in nature destinations. by @paganea

During my tourism studies, I’ve had the chance to experience many sides of the tourism industry through both classroom learning and real-world practice. My focus has been especially on guiding and customer service, and I’ve had the opportunity to work in various environments – from city tourism offices to nature-based resorts.

I completed internships at Oulun Matkailuneuvonta (Visit Oulu) and Aito Igloo & Spa Resort in Lapland. In Oulu, I worked in customer service, assisting international tourists with their questions, helping them discover local attractions, and managing souvenir sales and inventory. At Aito Igloo, my focus was more on guiding tasks. I welcomed guests, introduced them to the resort area, supported nature activities, and learned how to adapt guiding based on the season and group type.

My studies also included visits to local and international destinations. I participated in study trips to Lapland, Sweden, and Lille, France. These gave me insights into hotel operations, international tourism cooperation, and different types of guided experiences. I also had the chance to design and lead short guiding tasks, like a city tour in Oulu, and take part in workshops in hospitality and communication. by @paganea
