Why some investors pick AMD over Nvidia and Intel, in four reasons: it’s growing almost as fast as Nvidia, and the argument is that a smaller company has more room to keep that up; Meta, OpenAI and Anthropic have signed up for its AI chips; AMD says data center revenue should more than double in 2027; and it sells both CPUs and AI chips, earning 46% of server CPU revenue. The catch: Nvidia is far bigger and keeps more of each dollar it sells, 75 cents against AMD’s 54, so AMD has to deliver.

This is the case some people make for AMD, not a prediction. Follow for my AMD results breakdown.

AI agents don’t just need GPUs, they need CPUs too. The GPU does the math, and the CPU plans, calls tools and moves the data that keeps an agent running.

That’s why AMD CEO Lisa Su now sees the server CPU market reaching $220 billion by 2030, why Nvidia expects its own CPU revenue to more than double, and why AMD’s next chip, Venice, is a big deal. AMD reports Q3 on November 3rd.

One of AMD’s businesses more than doubled last quarter. Data center sales hit $6.7B, up 107% and 58% of the whole company, while gaming fell 31%.

Inside it: EPYC server processors and Instinct AI GPUs, made mostly by TSMC. Meta and OpenAI have each signed for up to 6 gigawatts of AMD chips, and the first gigawatt starts shipping later this year.

The question is whether AMD can deliver all of it on time. AMD reports Q3 on Tue Nov 3 after close.

This is part 1 of my AMD breakdown. Part 2 covers the CPU side of business, so follow to catch it.

Vistra vs Constellation: two AI power stocks, three rounds. In 2025 Constellation grew sales 8% vs Vistra’s 3%, and kept 9¢ of every dollar vs 5¢. But this year Vistra’s stock is down 6% while Constellation’s is down 21%. Better business or better stock: what’s your take?

Vistra (VST) is 27% below its 52-week high. Why?
Two things weighing on it:

⚡ Price caps: in January the White House pushed to cap PJM power auction prices, and VST fell about 7% that day.

🏗️ Demand check: Texas paused new data center hookups to audit a 474 GW waiting list.

On the other side, Amazon and Meta have both signed 20-year power deals with Vistra.

It comes down to two things: do the caps stick, and does AI demand show up?

Next: Vistra vs Constellation Energy. Follow so you catch it.

Amazon signed a nuclear power deal with this company, and its stock is still down about 26% from its high. So what does Vistra (VST) actually do?

It owns 44 GW of power plants: mostly natural gas, plus coal, nuclear, solar and batteries. It gets paid two ways: for the power it sells, and for keeping plants ready to run.
This week the US Department of Energy offered Vistra a conditional loan of up to $4.2B to boost output at its nuclear plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Amazon’s 20-year deal for 1.2 GW from its Comanche Peak nuclear plant starts delivering power in late 2027.

So why is the stock still down? That’s the good part, and I’ll be covering that next. Follow so you don’t miss it.

I’ve been letting Muse, Meta’s new AI agent, run part of my day. Here’s what it actually does for me:

1) Stock news: only the articles that matter for the stocks I follow, with a quick summary and the source
2) Post ideas: it pings me throughout the day with ideas and helps me get started
3) Morning recap: it checks my calendar and tells me what I need to get done today, and when

Micron sold $54.2B of chips last quarter, and 63% went to data centers.

Four of the biggest AI builders (Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Meta) plan to spend about $730B this year. A lot of that goes to AI chips, and every AI chip needs memory right beside it.

Micron has 26 long-term deals, $32B committed by customers, and over 75% of next year’s output already committed. The catch: those buyers need AI to pay off.

That’s part three, the end of the Micron series. Which stock should I cover next? Comment below 👇

Micron just got its highest price target yet ($3,000), then fell 4.8% the next day. 3 numbers explain why 👇

1️⃣ $3,000 — DA Davidson’s target, the highest on Wall Street
2️⃣ 19× vs under 7× — the earnings multiple he’s betting on vs where it trades now
3️⃣ $50B, not $70B — the FT’s report on OpenAI’s revenue, which hit the whole AI chip trade

Part 3 next: who’s actually buying all these chips? Follow so you don’t miss it.

Micron is up about 270% this year. So what does it actually do?

It makes memory chips. DRAM is fast working memory (HBM is a premium stacked version built for AI chips). NAND is storage. Last quarter, 76% of sales were DRAM and 24% were NAND.

Sales hit $41.5B, up from $9.3B a year ago, and Micron kept about 68¢ of every dollar as profit. Why: AI needs huge amounts of memory, supply is short, and DRAM prices more than tripled.

Micron reports earnings Wednesday (Sep 30). I’m breaking it down this week in four parts.
Next up: what’s priced in?
