Our next Harvest Update from Georgia comes from our friends at Lazmauri by @ancient.valley - “Greetings from the regions of Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi! This year brought abundant rainfall and plenty of sunshine, giving us every reason to expect a great harvest. We have ensured proper care and used high-quality treatments for the ideal ripening of the grapes. Due to the summer heat in the Alazani Valley, the grapes accumulated sugar quickly. Those farmers who managed their crop loads will get perfectly ripe raw material with a sugar content exceeding 22%. Grapes like these will yield bold, tannic Saperavi and classic white wines. The harvest in Kakheti has already begun. We are preparing to receive the grapes and, as always, will strive to create many new products for our consumers. As for Racha, the cool climate of the Rioni River gorges allowed the grapes to ripen slowly this year. The new government regulations on sugar content have had the strongest impact precisely on Racha: here, it is critical to strike the perfect balance so that the sugar reaches the required level while preserving the signature crisp acidity. Forecasts promise an exemplary balance for the 2026 Khvanchkara. The harvest in Racha is expected to start in mid-October.” Gaumarjos! 🇬🇪🍷 by @parsonsfineimports
While most of the wine world is experiencing some of the earliest harvest on record, we check in with Georgia to see how things are going there! Our first harvest update of 2026 comes from David Machavariani, owner & winemaker of @terrakisiwines “Spring had a cold start. Flowering began 2 to 3 weeks late. Summer there was rain almost every week, with average temperatures feeling roughly 2–3°C cooler than usual. The harvest is shaping up to be late—the complete opposite of Western Europe, which experienced a hot, rainless summer. The key takeaways are: •Harvest dates delayed by 2 to 3 weeks •Lower sugar levels •High total acidity / Low pH This sets the stage for producing fresh, aromatic wines. We are currently holding out for September. Long-term forecasts are calling for sunny days around 25°C right through to the end of the month. If that holds true, the 2026 vintage could be exceptional, defined by its signature freshness and elegance” This week the first round of fruit was brought in! We will continue to update on Georgia and all of our producer partners’ POVs of Harvest ‘26! Gaumarjos! 🍇🍷🇬🇪 by @parsonsfineimports
