Inside the renovated Withycombe Hall, Oregon State University’s agricultural science students get access to state-of-the-art spaces for research and learning. A Dairy Pilot Plant in collaboration with Tillamook Creamery brings small-batch cheese and ice cream-making back into the building (and on display!), while the Wine Pilot Plant supports hands-on enology education. Add a shared Kitchen Lab for cross-program collaboration, and you’ve got a building built for real, hands-on science. Warm wood details throughout soften the high-tech feel, connecting the space back to Oregon’s agricultural roots. 🧪🧀🍷   Photography by Josh Partee | @parteephoto   #Boraarchitects #design #movetheneedle by @parteephoto
At Art Rutkin Elementary, every corner is designed to feel like home for its 650 PK-5 students. Nestled into a hillside and shaped by the surrounding forest, the school leverages a timber structure and abundant natural light to create warm, comfortable spaces — from the classrooms to the commons to the courtyards in between. Named for a beloved longtime Tigard-Tualatin principal, Art Rutkin Elementary prioritizes students’ connection to nature and community to support a joyful and welcoming learning environment.   Photography by Josh Partee | @parteephoto   #Boraarchitects #design #movetheneedle by @parteephoto
Established in 1939, over time Central Catholic High School evolved from a 1,000-student all-male campus to a vibrant, 800-student co-ed community. To accommodate its growing population on a constrained urban four-block site in southeast Portland, we designed the Monsignor Tim Murphy Center as a modern new student commons nestled into the existing L-shaped structure. With little available land to build on, the Center offers one floor below-grade and two above, housing academic, arts, athletic, and gathering spaces. 16-foot sliding glass doors open the new wing to a newly formed courtyard to the west and the football field to the east, reinforcing a daylit, connected space on a beloved campus.   Photography by Josh Partee | @parteephoto   #Boraarchitects #design #movetheneedle by @parteephoto

Point Defiance Zoo / shot for the amazing Pure+Freeform, designed by one of my top 5 all time favorite firms, EHDD whom I first got to shoot for in 2009 for an USGBC case study of early LEED projects. Playing catch-up on IG! We had another baby in 2019 and something had to give. It was social media. Had the privilege of shooting some jaw-dropping built work these past few years. Feeding a few into your algorithm this week. Happy new year to all :) by @parteephoto
Not every shoot is magical. But some days.. It’s literally, my job, to visit places like this 🤗 While my client in this case poured us wine and served cake as the sky colored up. Thank you again, @studiostlinc by @parteephoto
