“DogInWindow.” 2026.

When I moved to NY, I thought that the person I was had to die for me to be reborn. In a sense that was true. When I moved back to NJ, I thought that I had to climb inside the corpse I hid to function. That’s still true right now. I read a story from Chambers’ The King In Yellow called The Mask, in which life can be frozen in time by an alchemical process, turning the organic matter into marble or stone. The story is tragic. As I sit in this corpse, I see the statue of myself I left just out of reach, full of potential, glowing just on the edge of being brought back to me. A body in the distance, robbed of experience by circumstance. I just now cannot shoulder the cost of a return. Just now I’m a dog in a window; I can’t do anything but bark and whine. What have I done… I want her back.

First half of a diptych I’m cooking up for y’all, complete duo in a couple weeks.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the corpse I’ve been wearing for the last few months/year as I’ve been away from the life I want. I’ve gone back to hiding in it, dissociating to protect what’s underneath, and it def shows that it’s starting to slip off of what’s true. It’s hard to revive that which stayed in the ashes, even theatrically. It makes me sad, it hurts my soul, it’s life in bad faith.

Like a dog in a window I can’t seem to do anything to touch the world beyond this putrid skin I cling to. I hope I don’t start rotting in here. I’ll see y’all soon, I’ll take it off for the show :)

Love and perversion, love of perversion, perversion of love. The consumption of fetishized bodies and the bad-faith consumption of the body of Christ aren’t too far apart in my personal opinion.
Getting dirty and loose w the paint these days, trying out new ways of thinking about the finished image.

“CowGoreSketch (In Encaustics).” 2022

I’ve been looking at this thing I did when I was in college a lot b4 bed (hangs on the wall across my headboard) and figured that it’s been influencing the work I’m making now a bunch. I really like it, and I’ve only now realized so I wanna post it on main. It’s very clearly related to the way I’ve been approaching the new stuff, at least to me, so I’m gonna show it with the new work when that time comes. Internal continuity, narrative structure, same undertones four years down the line.

Pulled pic from archive account and retouched it a little. Actual painting also got touched a little since photo was taken…

Finding ways to get less precious about my art and my practice out of necessity is the move for 2026. Conserving quality, pumping out quantity. Couldn’t document this all too well (wasps woke up in the wood balcony divider), couldn’t wait either.

Got my palm read by some undead in my dream, they told me a terrible fortune before biting into my neck. They say the same thing every time. It’s warmer out now but I’m so cold 24/7…
