May 2026 be a year of play and craft.

This past year asked a lot of me. But there's something fitting about it being the year of the snake, a symbol of transformation and renewal. So I'm taking that literally: shedding what needs to be left behind, keeping what actually matters, and moving forward with cautious optimism.

Wishing you all the best for what's ahead. by @pathengart

Been testing and playing around with some add-ons on Blender, especially for improved rendering and light setups, to make it faster to get a result than tweaking settings like an absolute mad person.

Also, insane what good lighting and a bit of depth of field does to an image. This is better than basically anything I have rendered so far. I am curious to see how well it performs with animations.

By the way, how can I sync my Blender preferences, startup file, addons, asset libraries, and everything else between different workstations? That would be amazing. I have researched extensively, but I can't find anything usable.

Test with Octane Renderer for Blender. I am pretty happy with how Octane looks compared to Cycles, but, of course, it's much more complex and has many more options and settings. There is a lot to tweak and adjust to create a system preset that works for almost everything.. Linke, I spent today (SOMEHOW) about 9 hours downloading and setting up Octane for Blender, watching numerous YouTube videos on settings, tweaking, test rendering, and not figuring out how the denoiser works in Octane. And here we are with some cylinders that have a glass texture, with a bit of roughness and a thin film. Still, there's a lot to explore and figure out, but I'm glad I switched; it feels like a good compromise between switching from Blender to Cinema 4D and staying with Blender.

Super Basic Animations with @cavalry.app

Wanted to play, not think, and try some colour combinations.

Something with a bit of a twist

So yeah, finally got around to play with @cavalry.app again. Tho I have been working with it (professionally) quite intensively the past few months. Hopefully I'll get around to prepare some of the things I made to share with you all on here.

For this piece I got really inspired by @dixheure06 latest post and wanted to recreate the the effect within Cavalry. Super simple setup but quite the cool outcome.

What do you think?

Mochi Icecream Heaven

Finally got arround to animating this this one. Let me know what you think. 🫶🏻

Squishy mochi (もち)

Something a bit different from my usual style, but how could I resist making it colorful and comfy-looking? I had some time and energy on my hands, so I dove back into Blender, and this is what came out of it.

It's funny - I keep looking at it and thinking, "Did I really make that?" Still getting used to seeing my own progress, I guess. The raw render was a bit pale, so I did some tweaking in Photoshop to bring out the colors and make it pop.

This 3D journey is full of surprises, but moments like these make all the learning worthwhile. Hope this brings a bit of squishiness to your day!

Wishing you all a comfy weekend.

Re:birth

Testing a simple shader I made in Blender for a different project. But I might have been able to make it as a glass shader with roughness instead of cranking the subsurface to get it to look like this. I would need to try it, tho, and it might render much faster. Right now, this was about 4 hours for 120 frames. Well, anyway, here we are. It's still a nice-looking outcome. And I hope you also like it, even though it's short.

Sorry, I had to re-upload; there were weird noise artefacts from the compression in the export, and it looked horrible. I did not notice before uploading. Now I know, use H.265 instead of H.264. by @pathengart
