Many women grow up learning that humility means staying quiet about their achievements.

@paulinaacameron, Lead BC Advisory Council Member, shares her perspective on how confidence and humility can go hand in hand, and why recognizing your strengths is an important part of authentic leadership.

Over time, that can look like downplaying accomplishments, hesitating to speak up, or making ourselves smaller to avoid being seen as "too much." Yet the skills, ideas, and impact we bring deserve to be recognized.

Building confidence is not about taking up space at someone else's expense. It is about finding authentic ways to share our strengths, advocate for ourselves, and celebrate what we've accomplished without apology.

Let's continue the conversation at Minerva's Inclusive Leadership forum. Link in bio.

First Half Marathon complete 🥹🥹🥹 @lululemon SeaWheeze 2026 ✨🥳🏃🏼‍♀️

I woke up a bit discouraged as I’d been battling a cold last couple days that was getting worse and had poor sleep all week in the lead up to🩸days. Advil was my friend and took in all the adrenaline to give it my all. Every km of this run was harder and required so much more effort than any of my training runs… I adjusted my goal and hoped to come in under 2:25 and was able to 🎉 even w a pee break.

Thank you to the best cheering squad - IRL and online trackers - the ❤️ kept me going!

I’ve definitely caught the running bug and already can’t wait to break this first PB! First tho, heal my blisters and regrow a toe… 😅 by @paulinaacameron

From the moment I arrived at YVR airport to fly to Ottawa this week, stories were the theme of every conversation, in a way I have never really noticed before, and, now am so much more aware of, given my work with ECHO.

Waiting in line to board, the woman in front of me remarked that she thought she recognized me and while it turns out that we probably hadn’t met yet, she had been looking at firms to work with to capture her company’s legacy of impact in the firefighting aerospace industry, where stories of courage are front and centre.

Next, my flight neighbour down next to me with a copy of the incredible book, The Body Keeps Score, which I commented on and it ignited the story of how he turned his life around a few years ago, his daughter’s mental health struggles, the impact this book had on her, and, how his life’s mission statement is “to live a life worth writing a book about”.

The 48 hours of activities for The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award ceremonies - the reason I was in Ottawa, more on that later! - were full of stories of students, high school graduates, and the often tremendous obstacles they have persevered through, and have they have turned those challenges into deeply meaningful humanitarian endeavours. Let’s just say, many tears were shed. We shared an inspiring afternoon in Parliament, where we shared the ‘shoutout’ floor with Canada’s recent Olympic team, who were also getting celebrated for their courage. It was particularly moving to witness a feisty question period that wrapped up with all sides singing the anthem and chanting “Canada” together. The story of uniting for shared purpose resonated strongly.

A treat of this trip was also a dear friend coming out for a visit - we had a wee pocket of time together, and, we talked endlessly as we walked the beautiful moonlit streets together, writing another chapter in the story of our friendship.

During one last meeting over tea, a conversation with a collaborator-turned-friend covered all topics ranging from government transformation to preserving humanity and real relationships during this expanding digital era. by @paulinaacameron

The best way I know how to celebrate International Women’s Day is by bringing women together for conversations that educate, empower, and support our health. 💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us Thursday night for the screening of The M Factor 2: Before the Pause – Perimenopause.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible panelists @drloribrotto @drmz, @annemclean.co and our wonderful moderator @paulinaacameron for sharing your knowledge and helping guide such an important conversation.

Thank you to Danielle and Chelsey from Indigenous Equity Lab for sharing the work you are doing to elevate Indigenous women’s perspectives in menopause conversations.

And thank you to everyone who came out to be part of this evening. Nights like this remind me how powerful it is when women gather, learn, and support one another.

A special thank you to @mekaella.ab and her friends who helped make sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.

We are also incredibly grateful to the brands who contributed to the goodie bags: @coraltothrive @organikahealth @leanfitbrand @alivehealth @maturnglobal @get_joni @drinkglimmerwine @itlhealth @findmyvitality @zilicare @esensehealth @westcoastwomensclinic @dr.balpawa @hellogoodjuju_ @coreconnectionphysio @mindfulmonkchocolate @allfat.ca @dr.allanapolo and UBC Sexual Health Research.

When women support women, incredible things happen.

Happy International Women’s Day. ✨

IYKYK and now you know, Tlusty Czwartek aka Fat Thursday 😋 by @paulinaacameron

Leadership calls for knowing when to push, and when to replenish.

When I was CEO, I would give my team an extra day off after the holidays. As a team of women, mostly mothers, we were just coming off a marathon of making memories and the first day after when the kids went back to school was often the first solo moment we’d get.

A day not to “get ahead” in the capitalist sense. A day to get ahead by getting to rest, reset, and be human.

It costs almost nothing. And it gave us so much more energy when we came back together.

Happy first Monday of 2026 ✨ Taking my own advice today with a beautiful long seawall walk today. by @paulinaacameron

Big kudos to the @innovationubc teams that participated in this year’s Venture Showcase!

From transforming shell waste into high-value, biodegradable materials replacing plastic, to creating new universally active drugs to treat severe bacterial infections, to enabling expert ultrasound in remote communities through AR, these founders + ventures were tremendously inspiring and working on tackling some of our most wicked challenges. by @paulinaacameron
