We’ll let you in on a hidden gem – the Original Bean Curd Tarts from @lecafe_sg.

If you think that it’s like egg tart, you honestly can’t be more wrong. It’s silky smooth soya bean filling encased in a buttery pastry and we honestly think that it’s like the better sibling. by @peanutloti

@baesikdang1969 prides themselves on bringing the Korean Naengsam experience from the late 1960s and 70s to Tanjong Pagar.

Think premium pork from Jeju, sliced ultra-thinly to 3mm, and grilled the old-school way on foil over an open flame. Don’t worry if you’re afraid that you’ll mess up the cooking because they’ll do it for you.

Here’s what we had:
🩶 Duroc Naengsam Pork Belly and Pork Shoulder
🩶 Chapagetti with Pork, Cheese and Fried Egg
🩶 Kimchi Pork Fried Rice with flying fish roe, mozzarella cheese and fried eggs
🩶 Mixed Tofu & Kimchi Stew
🩶 Pear Slushie

The crispy edges of the pork made each mouthful more satisfying, and we love how generous they were with the banchan (side dishes) – from kimchi cucumber and fish cakes to even white kimchi. The service was really great too! by @peanutloti

@jrpizzeria.alkaff started out as a home-based business in Hougang and opened a physical store at the heart of Bidadari a couple of months back.

They pride themselves on serving up Neapolitan-style pizza at pocket-friendly prices.

We tried their Prosciutto Pizza and added burrata just because. But if you are looking for something more unique, go for their Pesto Pizza. by @peanutloti

We couldn’t stop thinking about @sodeng_sg since our last visit, so we dropped by again recently.

Tried their Minari Samgyeopsal and it was honestly one of the better cuts of pork belly we’ve had. The fat-to-meat ratio was just nice and the minari gave each mouthful a fresh burst of flavour that also cleansed the palatte. by @peanutloti

@bibimdeli is basically like Korean cai fan.

They offer a wide variety of Korean dishes, from stir-fried spicy pork and soy garlic chicken to familiar side dishes like japchae and tteokbokkk.

The price depends on the weight of your bowl, and if you can guess the weight correctly, your meal will be free! by @peanutloti

It’s been a while since we’ve had @uddersicecream but it never fails to hit us with a pang of nostalgia.

There’s always such a wide variety to choose from but our favourite has always been the Snickers Mars Honeycomb Vanilla. by @peanutloti

You probably would’ve seen @duduyuecai making its rounds on social media. They’ve recently relocated from Eunos to Marsiling and serve up Cantonese dishes in claypot style.

Here’s what we tried:
🩷 Singapore’s First Crispy Orh Luak
🩷 Shun De Hand-chopped Pork Pie
🩷 Signature Salted Egg Chicken Wings with Corn
🩷 Golden Nest
🩷 Cauliflower

It’s the kind of place where you round up your friends and family to order a feast. Our favourite was the Salted Egg Chicken Wings with Corn because of how addictive the sauce was.

If you’re a fan of orh luak, you’ll want to try their crispy version as well – it’s a bit like eating chips! by @peanutloti

You’ll know @cheekysignatures for their bee hoon but did you know that they also have an outlet serving up Filipino dishes? 👀

Think classic pinoy dishes with a local twist. Here’s what we had:
🇵🇭 Pork Belly Kare Kare Set
🇵🇭 Crispy Pork Belly Sisig
🇵🇭 Grilled Wild-caught Smoked Fish (Milkfish)
🇵🇭 Salmon Head Sinigang

Our favourite is the Pork Belly Kare Kare, which is basically roasted pork in a spiced peanut sauce.

Set meals start from $8.80 nett with no GST or service charge. There’s also their $1.99 Salmon Head Sinigang (u.p. $5.80) and $0.99 hot kopi/teh – available across Monday to Friday (after 5pm), and the weekends. by @peanutloti

You’ll know @yeastside.sg for their sourdough pizzas and craft beers, but did you know that they have an extensive focaccia sandwich menu as well?

Had their Mr Crabs and Smashed Beef Focaccia Sandwiches and they were so hearty and filling. Our favourite was the latter with its black angus beef patties, smoked cheddar, romaine lettuce, plum tomato, onion marmalade and gherkin, sandwiched between fluffy focaccia bread.

You’re also sleeping on it if you haven’t tried their matcha. They serve up one of the better ones out there and even have a Matcha Foam series.

Purists can go for the usual matcha latte and opt for the one with vanilla foam if you’re feeling a little adventurous. We love the vanilla foam but can’t deny that options like their Sparkling Apple Matcha Foam and Strawberry Matcha Foam caught our attention as well. by @peanutloti

Been looking at adding more protein into our diet recently, so we checked out @sbc.1983.

Their Ayam Bakar Bowl came with a really flavourful and juicy boneless chicken leg atop a bed of fragrant blue pea thai rice.

They also serve up sides like achar, curry vegetables, quail eggs and bergedil. You can also pick from a sweet samba or samba belacan. by @peanutloti

It’s been a while since we were THIS impressed by food, but the folks at @liulangmian_sg truly knocked our socks off.

Had their and Lor Bak (Braised Pork Belly) noodles and Dou Ban Jiang Chicken Mazesoba and honestly can’t decide which we prefer. Both dishes had an amazing depth of flavour and screamed umami goodness.

Bummed that we don’t stay around the area but will definitely make a mental note to make a stop there each time we are in the vicinity. by @peanutloti

Opened by the folks behind @boontongkee_sg, @chickenkakee serves up really good chicken rice but with an extended menu.

Expect the same juicy, tender chicken – either poached or roasted – alongside other dishes like Crispy Stir-fried Kailan with Chicken Floss, Claypot Sizzling Tofu and Cereal Prawn.

The best part is that there’s free flow rice. Great news for our Muslim friends – they are halal certified too! by @peanutloti
